Garage Cleanout Tips for Truckee Homes

Truckee Junk Co. · August 28, 2026 · 5 min read

A garage cleanout moves faster when the decisions and access plan are handled before loading begins. You do not need to move every heavy item yourself, but a clear keep/remove boundary makes the project much easier to manage.

Start with four simple categories

Separate the garage into keep, donate or reuse, remove, and uncertain items. The uncertain group should stay small enough that it does not stop the crew every few minutes. If several family members are involved, settle the major decisions before the appointment.

Create a safe route to the driveway

Open a reasonable path from the stored items to the loading area. In Truckee, snowbanks, icy approaches, sloped driveways, and seasonal equipment can reduce the usable space around a garage. Point out any surfaces, vehicles, or equipment that must remain protected and accessible.

Identify bulky items first

Furniture, shelving, mattresses, appliances, bicycles, and large boxes establish the load volume quickly. Smaller loose items can then be grouped into boxes or bags where practical. Do not drag oversized pieces outside solely for the estimate; photos can show us where they are.

Schedule around the property deadline

If the garage must be cleared before a move, guest arrival, remodel, listing, or rental turnover, share the deadline when requesting the estimate. That allows Truckee Junk Co. to tell you whether the available schedule matches the property timeline before the project becomes urgent.
